Our mission is to impact the world with kindness and manifest God's will of righteousness into people's heart through my art. We present the good news of life through Jesus Christ at every concert, video and audios we produce.
Our vision is to exalt God by utilizing our musical gift to sing His praise and tell of His salvation, goodness and love through songs. Our goal is that our songs are pleasing to God and that they will mellow the hearts of the unsaved people from all walks of life.
JA Ministry was founded by Janet Atieno, a charismatic and eccentric gospel artist serving under God's ministry in bringing purpose to art. Janet's inspiration comes from her environment entailing caliginous life stories and testimonies on how God's grace is manifested on her life. She uses her voice as a serving tool and brings purpose to light. Janet's art has authenticity, for most of the music's inspiration is African oriented. This brings out an originality that is never seen before under her line of ministry, putting her identity and purpose in front. JA ministry is based on doing and spreading of the Lord's humbling works. Through music, Janet gives backs to the society, as a gospel artist spreading the word of God and enlightenment of the truth. Aside from composing music, Atieno conducts and organized church ministries like Crusades and evangelism concerts as a way of manifesting her purpose. Besides artistry, Janet is a loving mother and playing the role of a family guy during her free time.
Janet’s early life was filled with a lot of despondency. Due to poverty, her parents could not afford her primary education, besides poverty her father was a disable man. At the age of 8 she was taken by her Aunt (fathers Sister) who promise to send her to school but, instead she became their slave while other kids were attending school, Janet was doing all house chore, she was abused and beaten frequently for no good reason. One day she attempted to escape back to his parents but was caught and this time her Aunt beat her seriously and temporarily paralyzed her. Her Father made effort and got her back and struggled to get treatment for her, Janet slowly recovered and was happy living with her family who loved her so much. Months later, out of school and had nothing to do, she convinced her parents that to learn dressmaking would be a better option since she was left behing by her agemates, The family agreed so they made agreement with a tailor (a man named Harrison) the family knew, Mr Harrison accepted to train her, nevertheless when Janet moved to stay with this family, this man, Harrison who was the age of his father changed his mind and made a move to marry her as a third wife, in order to train her something Janet and her family rejected and so she came back to stay with her parents. Then came a distance Aunt who lived far in the eastern province, this Aunt was a teacher by occupation and married a policeman, they had children of their own. When she asked Janet’s father to take Janet with her and will send her to school and help her, Janet was exhilarated despite her father’s reservation given the history of abuse. Poor girl did no know what she was getting into. So, in 1995 she moved to stay this family in Embu, one morning when everyone was gone, the Aunt was at work at school and their kids were also had gone to school, the Ant's husband (the policeman) came back to the house. Just the him and Janet were home, he called Janet, put his gun on the table the asked Janet to take of her clothes. Overcome with fear and not knowing what will happen Janet obeyed his order, the man who is supposed to uphold law and order rapped a powerless girl but that was just the beginning. He cautioned her never to tell anybody and this nightmare continued every single day for months. While this was going on there was a man who watch this young girl from a distance, he wanted to help Janet get away from that family, the man was 35-year-old and was a single father. The man proposed to marry Janet after she get her out of that family. Face with no hope Janet accepted and move from this family and was married this man at the age 14 when she should be attending school. Notwithstanding all the abuses and painful encounters in her childhood, Janet has shown the world what God can do and remain a role model to young girls around the country that undergo abuse every day. She encourages young women telling them that "I'm a living testimony. If God did it for me, even you, you are heading to your destiny, stay focus and believe in God". God is speaking loud and clear to you girls through Janet. “I know the plans I have for you…” Janet today is a recording and performing gospel artist, she started doing music in 2007, and has successful Luo hits such as “Anto Apako” and “Baba Yetu”. Janet's style is an afro-fused native style, whereby she uses Luo language in most of her songs
